- Typically our dance year begins in September and ends in June with breaks in December, February, and April (based on the Harvard Public School calendar).
- Students enrolling in classes must meet the appropriate age requirement by September 1 of the current school year.
- We are a "No Gossip Zone!" Dancers and parents must abstain from gossip and/or judgement regarding fellow dancers, parents, faculty, and choreographers.
- Dancers and parents will support all faculty decisions related to class and/or choreography placement.
PAYMENT POLICIES
- Payments can be made in cash or check (made payable to the Harvard Academy of Dance).
- No refunds will be given for missed classes. Make up classes are available and must be made within 4 weeks of the missed class.
- No student will perform in the recital unless all payments are up to date.
- A $20.00 late charge will be applied to any tuition that is not paid by the 10th of the month.
- A $25.00 service charge will be applied to any returned checks.
- Monthly payments will be made September through May. The month of June is a 1/2 payment.
ATTENDANCE POLICIES
- An effort must be made to attend every class. Please keep in mind, it is detrimental to the student's training to miss classes.
- PLEASE CALL IF YOU ARE GOING TO MISS CLASS!
- There are no refunds for missed classes.
- All students must arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled class time.
- Please pick up your child at the end of their class.
- In the event of bad weather, please call the studio and/or check the website. There will be a message on the answering machine and the website stating if we will have classes. We do not always cancel when the local schools do!
OBSERVATION POLICIES
- Observation week is during the first lesson of each month. Accomodations will be made for parents to sit in the classroom during this time.
- If you come into the studio to observe, please refrain from talking or making any comments during your child's class.
- With the exception of Observation Week, parents and non-participating children are not allowed in the studio during class times.
- There is no communication allowed between student and parents during class. This can cause a distraction amongst the entire class and undermines the authority of the instructor. Your quiet observation from the viewing area is very much appreciated.
- In the event that your child has trouble going into class, is injured, or needs assistance in the bathroom, you may come into the studio at that time.
2011 - 2012 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
We do not close for Monday holidays, with the exception of Labor Day and Memorial Day.

DRESS CODE
BALLET - solid colored leotard and pink tights, split sole ballet slippers, with hair pulled away from face (Intermediate and Advanced students must have hair slicked back in a bun).
TAP - leotard and any color tights, tap shoes (we recommend Capezio's CG09), hair pulled away from face, form fitting dance shorts/pants may be worn but must hit at the ankle to prevent stepping on the hem.
JAZZ/MUSICAL THEATER - leotard and any color tights, split sole jazz shoes, hair pulled away from face, form fitting dance shorts/pants may be worn.
MODERN - leotard and black tights, bare feet, hair pulled away from face
CONTEMPORARY/LYRIC - leotard and any color tights, bare feet, hair pulled away from face, form fitting dance shorts may be worn.
HIP HOP - comfortable clothing that allows movement, clean sneakers (ones that have not been worn on the street), hair pulled away from face
ADULT CLASSES - comfortable clothing that allows movement

Tuition/Costs
REGISTRATION
A $25.00 registration fee along with the registration form is required to reserve a student's place in class. A registration is not secure until we have received the registration fee and first month's tuition.
TUITION
- Tuition is based on the school year (September - June) and is paid in monthly installments due on the first lesson of each month.
- A $20.00 late charge will be applied to any tuition that is not paid by the 10th of the month.
- Fees are not deductible due to missed classes for any reason.
- Tuition that is two months in arrears will result in termination of classes.

Harvard Academy of Dance
Studio Rental
Harvard Academy of Dance is pleased to offer short and long term studio rental for classes in dance, related arts, rehearsals, private lessons, auditions, photo & video shoots, workshops/master classes, and events. Prices and booking instructions are listed below. Facility descriptions and studio dimensions are listed at the bottom of the page. RENTAL RATES FOR AUDITIONS
In order to book an audition, it is mandatory that you contact the Director. Auditions require a contract and a security deposit of $50. Cancellations require 48-hour notice or entire rent is due. Sound system is available for use. All systems are iPod/mp3 compatible.
- Dance auditions: $25/hour
- Non-Dance auditions (theater, modeling/fashion shows, etc.): $25/hour
RENTAL RATES FOR PHOTO & VIDEO SHOOTS
The studio rental fees for a photo or video shoot are greater than our normal rehearsal/private lesson rates and vary depending on usage and equipment. Sound system is available for use. All systems are iPod/mps compatible. In order to book the studio for a photo or video shoot, it is mandatory that you contact the Director.
RENTAL RATES FOR PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are defined as instruction for groups of two students or less for which the teacher receives compensation. The Harvard Academy of Dance does provide instructors or you can rent the space for your own private lessons. Please contact the teachers directly to arrange for instruction. Visit our "Faculty" page for the instructors' dance style and contact the studio for their contact information. Cancellation requires 24-hour notice, or else payment is due. Please call the Director to request a studio rental for a private lesson. Sound system is available for use. All systems are iPod/mp3 compatible.

RENTAL RATES FOR REHEARSALS
The rates below are for DANCE REHEARSALS ONLY. Private lessons and workshops/master classes have separate rates. Cancellation requires 24-hour notice, or else payment is due. Please contact the Director to place a request for rental. Rehearsal requests can be made up to one month in advance. Payment is expected at time of rental. Sound system is available for use. All systems are iPod/mp3 compatible.
- Weekdays: $15.00/hour
- Weekends: $12.00/hour
Rehearsal contracts are available for dance rehearsals lasting longer than two months. In order to arrange for a contract, please contact the Director.
RENTAL RATES FOR WORKSHOPS/MASTER CLASSES
In order to book the studio for a workshop/master class, it is mandatory that you contact the Director. Workshops/master classes require a contract. Cancellations require two weeks notice, or entire rent is due. Sound system is available for use. All systems are iPod/mp3 compatible.
- Weekdays: $35.00/hour
- Weekends: $30.00/hour
STUDIO FACILITIES DESCRIPTION
Studio is 1200 sq. ft. Floor space is 41' x 29'. Floor is a state-of-the-art hardwood sprung flooring system. All dance shoes are permitted (tap/flamenco shoes must be approved by the Director). STREET SHOES ARE NEVER ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO, AT ANY TIME, FOR ANY SPACE RENTAL. Full Bose stereo system installed. IPod/mp3 compatible. Barres, mirrors, dressing room, and bathrooms are available for use.
